You may have already seen the headlines coming out of Cuba. Fuel shortages, rolling blackouts, and mounting strain on daily life have been widely reported.
Over the past several days, we’ve been hearing from our local leaders across Cuba. Extended power outages have become part of daily routine. Electricity is available only in short, unpredictable windows, shaping when families cook, work, and rest. Without consistent power, many households are relying on wood or coal for cooking and doing what they can to preserve food without reliable refrigeration.
Fuel shortages are touching nearly every part of life with rationing in place. Transportation between provinces has slowed or stopped; public transportation has stopped completely. Work schedules have been reduced. Schools and universities have closed. Accessing food, medical care, and basic supplies has become even more difficult and more expensive. International organizations have warned that conditions could worsen if fuel shortages continue.
We have already mobilized aid and have responded to the crisis. Our leaders from Mexico have made a trip to deliver humanitarian aid to support Mobile Messengers, their families, and local leaders. We are continuing to work closely with our partners to do everything we can to care for those serving faithfully through this crisis.
We invite you to pray with us for Cuba
Pray for families caring for children through long outages, for the elderly and vulnerable, for workers facing reduced hours, and for students adjusting to disrupted education. Pray for strength, provision, and protection; and for the faithful presence of the local church during a very difficult season.
If you feel led, you can also help us continue this work by giving toward humanitarian aid for Cuba. Your support allows us to stand alongside Mobile Messengers and local leaders as they care for their communities during this challenging time.
