We are living in some wild times! These times are nothing new for God Himself. He has seen it all before and knows the outcome. But do you ever think about how your life would be if you had the right attitude about it?

Having the right attitude makes all the difference in the world. How you view current circumstances, people, God, and life, in general, all starts with having the right attitude. Our minds are thinking all the time. The mind never stops, but we can have control by the way our attitude views life. It all starts with our relationship with Jesus, of course. Jesus working through us allows our minds to be at peace. Isaiah 26:3 says,

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.”

Where does our mind go when a crisis shows up?

How does it affect my attitude? Or what about when circumstances take a turn for the worst? Our world is in the midst of a crisis, and it seems like it will never get any better. The thing we must remind ourselves of is that we have an enemy. The enemy wants nothing more than to cause division among the people. This is his oldest trick – to divide. He did it to Adam and Eve in the garden, and he’ll do it to our closest friend. Let us be watchful and have the attitude that God desires us to have. That attitude is to trust. It is to obey His word. God shows up and brings perfect peace to the one whose mind is fixed on Him when we know that we can’t begin to do this life without Him. Why? Because he trusts in him.

I am reminded of a story many of us are familiar with. It is the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis. Joseph had the worst luck and was mistreated. He was mistreated by his own family, sold into slavery and presumed dead, thrown into prison for a crime he didn’t commit, but not one time does it say Joseph had a bad attitude. A positive attitude is a difference-maker in the mind of every believer. We can learn so much through the life of Joseph. Joseph is a picture of Jesus. It is how Jesus would have responded through the life of Joseph.

What can I do during this time and how is God teaching me to be more like Jesus?
  • I will develop myself. When you suffer injustice or hard times, complaining doesn’t do you any good. When the hard times come, let them develop you in who God calls you to be.
  • I will add value to others. Joseph had a choice to either get consumed in his own story or invest in others. He chose the latter. Perhaps he moved towards his dream by helping others with theirs.
  • Forgive. Joseph forgave his brothers rather than holding grudges. Jesus does the same with us. He forgives. Let us follow that same example.
  • Remember God works all things together for good. What the enemy meant for evil, God meant it for good. By God’s grace, Joseph was able to save his family, govern the most powerful land on earth, and help preserve God’s people for His greater purpose. When we submit to God, our dreams far exceed our expectations.

Having the right attitude makes all the difference in the world!
